Dear Sirs:

I am writing this letter to you to reflect on the wonderful adventure that Line and I have had with Metric since February 2004. I wish to share our unique experience with others.

In 2000, before a business trip to Australia, we purchased a 2 acre treed lot located in Rockland, Ontario. While I was out of the country, the realtor/builder declared bankruptcy and, to say the least, we lost our deposit of several thousand dollars.

During the course of 2003, we spoke and dealt with several local builders in town. But on each occasion we could never meet the owners. We had to deal with a Real Estate Salesperson. As we were about to embark on the most expensive purchase of our lifetime, we were not in a mood to deal with a third party.

In February 2004, I read a Metric advertisement stating its mission to provide highly professional and personalized service and its offer to customers to deal directly with one of the owners. Their motto is "We care"

I called Metric's office and obtained an appointment on February 19, 2004. Upon walking into the Great Room of their Ridgeview model home, I immediately knew I had found the home that I had been looking for, for years. I told Line that this was what I wanted and she felt the same.

We sat with Pierre and immediately, because of his outgoing personality, felt at ease. He answered all of our questions in a professional and personalized manner. Furthermore, when Line said she wanted a bigger kitchen, Pierre said we could rearrange the garage and give her a bigger kitchen at a reasonable cost.

I wanted a wood fireplace instead of the gas fireplace that was located in the Great Room. Pierre said no problem and even suggested to change the upstairs single gas fireplace into a double faced gas fireplace that could be relocated between the wall of our ensuite bathroom and Master bedroom.

We had a long wish list that Pierre took the time to go through and take note of. He listened and made good, sound suggestions such as to open a room downstairs, so we could view the big TV screen from the Great Room. He further suggested an open loft upstairs. We departed and agreed to meet the following Tuesday.

Meanwhile, during the weekend, Pierre forwarded to us a preliminary design of our future home via the Internet. The design included all of the proposed changes to the Ridgeview model. Bigger kitchen, loft, open TV Room, and 2 fireplaces.

Upon arriving on Tuesday, Pierre went directly to the core of the matter: what was the price we could afford? After having shared with him our price, he immediately, without any fuss, brought his price in line with our budget.

But the most incredible thing had just happened: we did not have to cut anything from our wish list. We had a beautiful home with American cherry hardwood flooring in every room of the first level, a hardwood grand staircase, custom made kitchen cabinetry, granite countertop, maple hardwood flooring on the second level, stone on the exterior, slate in the main lobby, and large windows all around, including a beautiful bay window.

Not only did we have a gas fireplace and a wood fireplace but, because of Metric's flexibility and buying power, we obtained a third high-efficiency wooden fireplace which was installed in the basement. The list of extras includes a TV built into the kitchen cabinetry and a TV located in the upper corner wall above the whirlpool bath in the Master bathroom. Pierre provided many features as standard where we would have expected an upgraded price, such as the beautiful main entry custom glass door.

At this time of my life I cannot physically deal with or endure stress. Since the beginning, this venture has been a stress-free experience. Both Pierre and Michel have taken all matters into their hands.

The construction is flawless with high standards such as the Platon on the concrete walls, more inside insulation in the basement than what is required by building codes and the list goes on and on.

Michel is the on site manager and is so well organized. Our house plans are all on his computer. He responded to demands on my part faster than I could write them.

Furthermore, Metric has displayed a beautiful wooden 6 feet X 6 feet sign at the entrance of our lot, which I am quite proud to display. But the utmost in professionalism came when Michel dealt with the company drilling our well. He brought the price down by almost $1,000 from the original quoted price by the drilling company. Needless to say, Michel gave us that money.

On another occasion, I explained to Michel the equipment I needed for my water treatment system and we spoke about the size of gas heater tank. Michel obtained a quote from his regular supplier and, on his way to Stittsville; he called me from a Home Depot to give me their price so I could decide in good faith. It is very impressive to see the owner work for your best interest, bearing in mind his heavy schedule.

Michel and Pierre have, on several occasions, exceeded the standard builder-client relationship. They have guided us through every step, even though I am not well versed in construction. They have made us feel a part of the team and have taken their valuable time to make sure we did understand.

Also, Metric has an in-house designer, Tammy, who has spent countless hours guiding us through the many choices Metric offers for paint, ceramic etc.

For Line and I, because of their awesome flexibility, this as been an incredible journey of pleasure and we have been shopping for all the fixtures and are enjoying a unique experience. This was my vision of how one should go through the biggest expense of one's lifetime and only Metric has made our dream come true.
The house was built within the agreed price; there were no hidden surprises.
